About Audrey Mestre

French freespaner who broke a female world record by spaning to a depth of 130 meters underwater on a single breath. She passed away during a practice spane of 171 meters in 2002 and was posthumously inducted into the Women Divers Hall of Fame later that year.

She grew up in a family of spaning and snorkeling enthusiasts in France. She moved to Mexico City as a teenager and later studied marine biology at a university in La Paz.

Knowledge Base

In 2006, Carlos Serra published a book about her fatal spane called The Last Attempt, in which he placed responsibility for her depth primarily on her husband s negligence during the spane.

She was married to famed fellow freespaner Francisco Ferreras from 1999 until her death.

She and England s William Trubridge are both famous freespaners.
