About Bob Baffert

Decorated racehorse trainer who s won multiple Kentucky Derbies, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes. His horse American Pharaoh won the 2015 Triple Crown. 


He grew up racing Quarter Horses on his family s ranch in Nogales, Arizona. He worked as a jockey racing in his teens and won his first victory at age 17 in 1970. 


In the 1980s he started training Thoroughbreds. He scored his first big break in 1992 when he won his first Breeder s Cup race with Thirty Slews.

He married his second wife, Jill Baffert, in 2002. He has a total of five children.
