An American educational writer, children s book author, humorist, and poet, he is best known for such comic, grammar-themed works as The Words are CATegorical series and the Sounds Like Reading books. His other popular titles include Eight Wild Nights: A Family Hanukkah Tale and The Laugh Stand: Adventures in Humor.


He attended a Roman Catholic Jesuit High School and subsequently received a degree in communications from John Carroll University.


He began working for the American Greetings Corporation in 1982.
