About Buddy Montgomery

Younger brother of jazz legend Wes Montgomery who was a prominent pianist and vibraphonist in his own right.

Early Life of Buddy Montgomery

His early professional gigs were with Big Joe Turner and Slide Hampton in 1949.

He and his other brother, Monk Montgomery, formed Mastersounds in the latter part of the 1950s. They then joined their brother for a series of recordings as the Montgomery Brothers during the 1960s.
