About Carter Cornelius

Remembered for his membership in the 1970s soul group Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose, this R&B singer also recorded such late 1980s and early 1990s albums as Love Train and Smooth Sailing.


He grew up in Dania Beach, Florida, and released his first album with Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose in 1972.


His hit singles with Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose include “Treat Her Like a Lady” and Don t Ever Be Lonely (A Poor Little Fool Like Me).”

His siblings Eddie, Rose, and Billie Jo were all members of Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose. Tragically, Carter Cornelius died of a heart attack in his early forties.
