Gearóid McInerney

About Gearóid McInerney

Irish hurler famous for playing as a central-back for the Galway senior team. He won an All-Ireland medal in 2011. 

Early life

He began hurling at the Oranmore boys national school. He later played for Calasanctius College, and then for the Ornamore-Maree club. 


His family owns the sports apparel store McInerney sports, located in Oranmore.

His father, Gerry McInerney, was a player for Galway and won All-Ireland medals in 1987 and 1988.

Rory McCarthy

About Rory McCarthy

Hurler who played half-back for St. Martin s from 1994 to 2008 before retiring to become a teacher.

Early life

He attended St. Peter s College, where he had success as a hurler, but even more so as a gaelic football player.


During his career he won two county championships, in 1999 and in 2008.

He was born and raised in Wexford County in Ireland.
