About Charley Pell

Controversial coach of the Florida Gators football who led them to the Top 10 and then was fired for violating many NCAA rules.


He never played football until high school, but was good enough to be recruited to the University of Alabama, where he became an All-SEC guard.


He admitted to his violations in a 1995 Dateline interview, saying There wasn t room for anything but winning. Nothing. Winning was the sole obsession, to a fault.
