Singer and songwriter who was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1997 and the Texas Heritage Songwriters Hall of Fame in 2011.

Early Life of Cindy Walker

She wrote poetry as a child and her first song was called “Dusty Skies,” which was inspired by newspaper articles about the dusty storms on American prairies in the 1930s.

She was discovered after playing a song she wrote outside the Bing Crosby Enterprises building for Bing Crosby s brother, Larry.

She was born to a cotton-broker father and a pianist mother and her maternal grandfather composed hymns. She was supposedly married for a short period of time, though the years are unknown.
