About Darryl McDaniels

Founding member of the legendary 80 s hip-hop group Run-D.M.C, who were the first hip hop group to have a gold and platinum album and the first to be nominated for a Grammy Award and appear on American Bandstand.


He taught himself how to DJ after his brother gave him a turntable and a mixer.


He reached number one on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop charts for his band Run-D.M.C s debut album in 1984 and in 2009 they became only the second hip hop group to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
