About Deke Sharon
Award-winning composer, singer and teacher of a cappella music who is often referred to as “the father of contemporary a cappella.” He served as music director and arranger on the film Pitch Perfect and arranged for The Social Network as well. His musical involvement increased for Pitch Perfect 2.
He was five years old when began singing in choirs such as the San Francisco Boys Chorus. At San Francisco University High School, he directed and sang in a barbershop and doo-wop quartet. He directed a collegiate a cappella group called the Tufts Beelzebubs. He graduated cum laude from Tufts University while also earning a degree from the New England Conservatory of Music.
He worked as a vocal producer for all five seasons of the U.S. reality competition show The Sing-Off, later serving as an executive music producer of the Dutch, South African and Chinese versions of the show.
