About Dinesh Patel

Indian pitcher who, along with Rinku Singh, became the first Indian ever to sign a contract with a major American sports team, signing with the MLB s Pittsburgh Pirates in 2008. He got the opportunity as a result of winning the Indian reality show The Million Dollar Arm.


He got his start training in the javelin throw at age 14. He later won a gold medal in the event at the 2006 National School Games in Pune.


His story formed the basis for the 2014 Disney movie Million Dollar Arm, starring Jon Hamm.
