Illustrator known for her webcomic/blog Hyperbole and a Half. Her art is characterized by its simplistic style and often depicts her struggles with depression, depictions that have earned praise for their accuracy in portraying the condition.


She attended the University of Montana and states on her website that she decided to start blogging while procrastinating before a physics final.


Many of her works have been adopted as memes, including the creature Alot, which she envisions every time she sees someone write “alot” instead of “a lot.” She experiences synesthesia, which she also talks about in her blog.
