About Esther Forbes
An American fiction writer, children s author, and historian, she is best known for her 1943 young adult novel, Johnny Tremain. Her other works include A Mirror for Witches (1928) and Paul Revere and the World He Lived In (1942).

She studied at Bradford Academy and later enrolled in several courses at the University of Wisconsin. In 1919, she began working for the editorial department of the Houghton Mifflin Company.
