About Eugenie Clark

American ichthyologist who was an expert in the branch of zoology devoted to the study of fishes. She is notable for her research on poisonous fish and sharks and is sometimes referred to as “The Shark Lady.”


In 1942 she attained a Bachelor s degree in zoology from Hunter College.


In 1994 the American Society of Oceanographers gave her the Medal of Excellence.
