About Jon Ralston

American journalist and political commentator who is known for hosting his own talk show Ralston Live on PBS. He is also known for having launched The Nevada Independent which is a nonprofit news outlet. 


He earned his BA in English from Cornell University and later his MA in Journalism from the University of Michigan. He then moved to Las Vegas where he started working as a police reporter for the Las Vegas Review-Journal. He then started writing for the Las Vegas Sun before publishing his first book The Anointed One: As Inside Look at Nevada Politics in 2000. 


He is known for making frequent television appearances as a political commentator and has appeared on the programs Meet the Press, MSNBC, Fox News, and PBS.
