About Kit Wright

Award-winning British children s writer and poet. His best-known works include Short Afternoons, The Bear Looked Over the Mountain, and Hoping It Might Be So: Poems 1974-2000.


After graduating from Oxford University, he taught in Canada. His early work, The Bear Looked Over the Mountain (published in 1977), won both the Alice Hunt Bartlett Prize and the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize.


He worked in the education office of England s Poetry Society from 1970-1975.
