About Maurice Bishop
Aruba-born politician who served as Prime Minister of Grenada from 1979-1983. His government was ultimately overthrown, and he was executed.
He received his law degree from the University of London and subsequently headed a Marxist movement in Grenada called the New Jewel Movement.
The much-criticized People s Revolutionary Army came into existence in Grenada during the period of Bishop s leadership.
