About Miki Matsubara

Pop singer and composer who is best recognized for her debut 1980 single, “Stay With Me.” She went on to release twelve albums throughout her career. She also went by the name Suzie Matsubara.


While still in high school she moved to Tokyo to pursue a singing career. 


She lent her voice to several anime theme songs, including the Gu Gu Ganmo theme song.

She married her drummer Maki Honjo, who later became a dentist. She passed away in 2004 from cancer. Her mother was a Jazz singer.

 In 2020, singer Rainych Ran posted a cover of “Stay With Me,” bringing the song and Matsubara back into the spotlight.
