About Mohamed El-Erian

CEO of PIMCO, an investment management firm, who was appointed Chair of President Obama s Global Development Council in 2012. In January 2014 he announced his retirement from PIMCO.


He attended Queens College, Cambridge for undergrad and got his master s and doctorate in Economics from Oxford. He worked at the International Monetary Fund and Citigroup before joining PIMCO.


He was named the Capital Markets Personality of the Year by Africa investor in 2013, and was named to Worth Magazine s 100 Most Powerful People in Finance in 2011, 2012, and 2013.
