About Erna Brodber

Jamaican author who published four novels between 1980 and 2007, including The Rainmaker s Mistake and Louisiana. She received the Caribbean and Canadian Commonwealth Writers Prize for her 1988 novel, Myal.


She earned a B.A. and a Ph.D from the University College of the West Indies and subsequently worked as a teacher.


She was the 1999 recipient of the Jamaican Musgrave Gold Award.
