About Gwen Harwood
Renowned Australian poet and librettist known for The Present Tense and other poetry collections. Her numerous literary honors include the Grace Leven Prize for Poetry and the Patrick White Award.
She studied to be a musician and also worked for a time as a typist. She published her debut poetry collection in 1963.
She wrote under several male and female pseudonyms early in her career. These pen names include Walter Lehmann, Francis Geyer, Alan Carvosso, and Miriam Stone.
