Born Ashley Richards, he is a Welsh midfielder/right back who joined Swansea City in 2009 and became a member of the Wales national team in 2012.

He made his debut for Swansea City in a Championship match loss against Middlesbrough on August 15, 2009.
He played for the Wales U17 team in 2007 and then worked his way up to the senior team.
