About Jeff George

Journeyman quarterback who played for eight teams over the course of his 13-year NFL career after being drafted with the first overall pick in the 1990 NFL Draft. He had his best season in 1997 as a member of the Oakland Raiders, when he led the league in passing yards.

He attended Warren Central High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he became the first-ever Gatorade National Player of the Year. He later won the Sammy Baugh Trophy as the nation s top passer while attending the University of Illinois.

He was childhood friends and high school teammates with sportswriter Jason Whitlock, who wrote numerous columns trumpeting George s skills.
