About John Wardley

Award-winning roller coaster designer and developer who created rides such as Smiler and Oblivion. Co-created the Blackpool Pleasure Beach magic show, Mystique, that ran for two decades. Beloved for Professor Burp s Bubbleworks, a ride centered in a Transylvania fizzy-pop factory.


He worked as a Windsor Theatre Royal stage manager before creating special effects for five James Bond films. He was then employed by the Tussauds Group to work on London s Chessington Zoo, which was on the bring of closure. It eventually became the theme park, Chessington World of Adventures.


He created Nemesis, an an inverted roller coaster showcased at the English theme park, Alton Towers.
