About Kendra Harrison

Hurdler who, in July 2016, broke the the world record in the women s 100 metres hurdles that had stood for nearly three decades. She accomplished this feat after winning NCAA titles in the 60 and 100 metres hurdles with the University of Kentucky Wildcats the previous year. 


She played soccer before joining the track team at Clayton High School in North Carolina. She went on to win state titles in 2010 and 2011.


At the 2014 SEC Championships, she became the first person to win both the 100 and 400 metres hurdles in the same year since 1999.

She was adopted by Gary and Karon Harrison and grew up with ten other children, most of whom were also adopted.
