He made his United States debut in 1933 with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Serge Koussevitsky.

He had a lengthy teaching career with positions at the Cleveland Institute of Music, the Mannes School of Music, the New England Conservatory of Music, and administered Harvard University s first applied music courses.
