About Michael Cain

Classical musician, skilled jazz artist, and well-known educator who taught at several respected U.S. and Canada institutions.


He relocated to New York in 1990, following graduation from the California Institute of the Arts. He joined the M-Base collective of musicians in Brooklyn.


He began teaching and leading ensembles at Brandon, Manitoba s Brandon University in 2008.

His family recognized his skills early on when he began dabbling in piano playing at the age of four, almost immediately composing and improvising.
