About Mitar Mrkela

Retired midfielder who was a member of the Yugoslavian men s team that won the bronze medal at the 1984 Summer Olympics. Following his playing career, he became the president of the City of Belgrade Football Association and the director of Red Star Belgrade youth academy. 


He began his professional career with OFK Beograd when he was just 16 years old. 


At 17 years and 130 days old, he became the youngest person ever to play for the senior Yugoslavian national team.

He was previously married to actress Lidija Vukicevic, with whom he has sons named David and Andrej.
