About Nicholas Grimshaw

Modernist architect whose work included London s Waterloo International Railway Station and the Eden Project in Cornwall. He also served as chairman of Grimshaw Architects.


He studied at Wellington College, then at Edinburgh College of Art from 1959 until 1962. He then won a scholarship to attend the Architectural Association School of Architecture. He also traveled Sweden and the United States on scholarships.


He was elected President of the Royal Academy in 2004.

His great-grandfather oversaw the installation of Dublin s drainage and sanitation system. His professional partnership with Terry Farrell lasted for 15 years.
