About Onyeka Onwenu

Nollywood actress and singer who has become well known for both her secular and nonsecular music. Her music has gained for tackling serious subject such as AIDS, women s rights, and national peace. She has also served as a judge on the Nigerian version of popular reality competition The X Factor.


She earned a bachelor s degree in international relations and communication from Wellesley College and later a master s degree in media studies from The New School for Social Research.


She is active in politics, beginning her career working with the United Nations and authoring the acclaimed documentary Nigeria, A Squandering of Riches. She has also served on the Imo State Council for Arts and Culture and worked as the CEO of the National Centre for Women Development.
