About Penny Jay

Tennessee-born country songwriter and singer best remembered for her 1962 hit “Don t Let Me Cross Over,” which was originally performed by Carl and Pearl Butter.


She performed at the age of twelve on the popular Cas Walker radio show. In her twenties, she sang with a country duo called Jenny & Jill.


Her singles include “Lonely and Unwanted,” “Just Over the Line,” and “Those Kinds of Girls.”
