About Sam Houston

American politician who served as a U.S. Senator
from Texas from 1846 to 1859 and was the 7th Governor of Texas from 1859 to 1861. He was credited with bringing Texas into the United States constituency.

Before moving to Texas, he served in the U.S. House of Representatives for Tennessee from 1823 to 1827 and was elected 6th Governor of Tennessee in 1827.
