About Tito Mboweni

South African politician who is known for having served as the Minister of Finance of South Africa. He is also known for having served as the Governor of the South African Reserve Bank from 1999 until 2009.

He attended the University of the North where he earned his Bachelor s of Commerce degree. He joined the African National Congress while in exile in Lesotho in 1980. He then attended the University of East Anglia where he earned his Masters of Arts in Development Economics. He started serving as the Minster of Labour in May of 1994.

He was born and raised in Tzaneen, Limpopo, South Africa. He is the youngest of two other brothers and went on to have three children of his own.
