About Riley Ann Sawyers

Before her body, found in Galveston Bay, was identified, this murdered toddler was referred to in newspapers and on television news programs as “Baby Grace.” Her stepfather and her mother were determined to be her murderers.

Early Life of Riley Ann Sawyers

Before being killed (perhaps accidentally, or perhaps intentionally), she was subjected to numerous, brutal beatings at the hands of her stepfather.

A Texas fisherman named Robert Wayne Spinn discovered her body in October of 2007.

Family Life

She was born to teenage parents Kimberly Dawn Trenor and Robert Thomas Sawyers and was cared for primarily by her paternal grandmother, Sheryl Sawyers (who later identified “Baby Grace” based on police composite sketches). After her father accused her mother of domestic violence and left the household, her mother married a corporal punishment advocate named Royce Clyde Zeigler, Jr.
