Scientist of nuclear medicine who used radioscopy and collimators in his research on disease detection. The Positron Emission Tomography technique for detecting diseases that he first proposed in 1961 is still used today.


He served in the Navy before attending the University of Chicago, where he earned a B.A. in 1954


He was the director at the Argonne Cancer Research Hospital in 1957.
