An American writer of paranormal, travel, adventure, and nature-themed books, he is best known for his 1940 work, The Unobstructed Universe. His other works include the Andy Burnett Saga, The Westerners, and Arizona Nights.


He studied at the University of Michigan. He published his first novel, The Westerners, in 1901.


The Boy Scouts of America made White an Honorary Scout in 1927.
