About Allan Ahlberg

British children s author who created popular children s books with his wife, Janet Ahlberg, for over 20 years.


The first books they wrote together were published in 1976 and 1977, but they became well known for their 1986 book The Jolly Postman.


He and Janet won two Greenaway Medals for their books.

He was married to Janet Ahlberg from 1969 to her death in 1994. He later married his editor, Vanessa Clarke.
