About Eugenie Anderson

Appointed by President Truman as United States Ambassador to Denmark in 1949. She was the first woman to reach a senior diplomatic post of that level.


Stirred by a 1937 trip to Europe, where she was the beginning of a totalitarian state in Germany, she became a strong voice in international affairs in the U.S.


One of her first tasks in the U.S. was supporting the election of politicians who would not let the U.S. stay isolated from the looming war in Europe.
