About Maurice Andre

Known for his recordings of Baroque music performed on a piccolo trumpet, as well as transcriptions of a wide variety of other instruments.


He joined a military band to enter a conservatory; in 1955 he won the Geneva International Music Competition and then the ARD International Music Competition in 1963.


One of his students wrote his biography, titled Maurice André: Une trompette pour la renommée, or Maurice André: A Trumpet for Fame.
