About Wayne Toups
Acclaimed folk, zydeco, and Americana singer and songwriter of Cajun descent. His hit song, “Late in Life,” received the Cajun French Music Association’s 1991 Song of the Year honor.
Early Life of Wayne Toups
He began playing the accordion at the age of thirteen.
He sang in both French and English and created a music genre called Zydecajun that mixed numerous musical styles.
He was born in Crowley, Louisiana to Cajun parents who worked as rice farmers.
He and D’Jalma Garnier both became famous for their Cajun-influenced music.
