About Younis Mahmoud

Iraqi soccer star who has been a prolific goal-scorer for clubs like Al-Khor, Al-Gharafa and Al-Wakrah. In 2007, he led the AFC Asian Cup and the Qatar Stars League in goals scored and was named the AFC Asian Cup MVP.

Early Life of Younis Mahmoud

In 2000, he became the youngest player ever to play for the Iraqi national team. He began playing for Al-Talaba in Iraqi Premiere League in 2001.

He received $100,000 from the Qatar Football Association as a reward for being the top goal-scorer in the Qatari Stars League for the 2006-07 season. He donated his winnings to the building of a mosque in Kirkuk.
