About Zak Stern

Baker and chef who runs Zak The Baker, a kosher restaurant in Miami, Florida. He started his own business by baking bread in his garage and selling the loaves at local farmers markets. After high demand from restaurants and buyers, he turned it into an official company. 


He was studying pharmaceuticals at Florida State, but left half way through to apprentice on farms across the US, Europe and Israel. He travelled for six years, learning the craft behind wine, cheese, and bread.


He and his bakery have won several awards, including Best Baker by the Miami New Times in 2013, Best Bakery in the 2014 Best of Miami Awards, and Baking & Pastry Chef of the Year in 2015 at the JWU Zest Awards.
