About Wayne McAllister

Designed the California landmark, Bob s Big Boy restaurant, in 1949, as well as the first resort hotel on the Vegas strip, 1941 s El Rancho Vegas. Created the circular drive-in Southern California restaurants, Simon s, Herbert s, and Robert s.


He dropped out of high school; he designed the Agua Caliente Casino and Hotel in 1928, his first major commission. He designed the Biltmore Bowl, which was home to several Academy Awards ceremonies.


He was a leader in Googie architecture, a style influenced by cars and the Space Age.
