About Michael Speciale

Politician known for his work with the republican party. He is best known as a member of the North Carolina House of Representatives where he represents the counties of Beaufort, Craven, and Pamlico. 


Before his role in politics, he was a member of the military in the Marine Corps from the years 1973 until 1995. Upon leaving, he began his career as a Member of Representatives in January of 2013. 


In April 2017, he first began his interactions with the U.S. Supreme court. He, along with Representatives Larry Pittman and Carl Ford, filed a bill in the N.C. General Assembly that says gay marriage is not valid in North Carolina. The bill, H.B. 780, claimed the U.S. Supreme Court ruling that allows gay marriage is not valid in North Carolina.

He was born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, before moving to North Carolina as a Marine at the age of 18. He married Hazel Bradley.
