About Hisham N. Ashkouri
Urban planner and principal architect of the Baghdad Renaissance Plan, the Afghan National Museum, the Tahrir Square Development, the Sindbad Hotel Complex and Conference Center, and the City of Light Development; he was key to the reconstruction of Kabul.
He graduated first in his undergraduate class from the University of Baghdad in 1970. He received his Master s from the University of Pennsylvania, where he studied with Louis I. Kahn in 1973. His Urban Design studies were carried out at Harvard University and M.I.T. His Doctoral work in Ergonomics was completed in 1983 at Tufts University.
He was responsible for the restoration and renovation work on many municipal buildings in New England.
