About Craig Gillespie

Director best known for the films Lars and the Real Girl (2007), I, Tonya (2017), and Cruella (2021). In 2011, he directed a music video for Kid Cudi entitled “No One Believes Me”. 


He moved to New York City at 19 to study illustration, graphic design, and advertising at The Manhattan School of Visual Arts. He directed commercials for 15 years. His debut film was Mr. Woodcock (2007) but he left the project after several negative screenings. 


He directed several episodes of the Steven Spielberg and Diablo Cody-penned TV show, The Unites States of Tara.
