About John O. Brennan

Government official rose to become the Director of the CIA in March 2013, taking over a controversial War on Terror. Prior to his nomination to head up the CIA, he spent 25 years in intelligence and counterterrorism, and was involved in the George W. Bush-era prisoner interrogation that some called torture.


In 1977 he received a B.A. in political science from Fordham and later earned his Masters in government from the University of Texas at Austin.


A fluent Arabic speaker, and known for his no-nonsense attitude, he once confronted a top Iranian spy in broad daylight on the streets of Saudi Arabia.
