About Lisa Kron

2015 Tony Award winning playwright. best known for her work on Fun Home which earned her the prestigious award for both Best Original Score and Best Book of a Musical. Her other major works include Well and 2.5 Minute Ride.


She was the valedictorian of her 1979 class of Everett High School. She majored in theater at Kalamazoo College before studying at Chautauqua Professional Actors Studio and the British European Studies Group in London.


While pursuing an acting career after arriving in New York City in 1984, she worked as an office temp and landed various other jobs. She founded the theater company The Five Lesbian Brothers with four other people. She taught playwriting part-time at Yale University and New York University.

She married Madeleine George. She and brother David Kron were born to parents Ann Kron, antiques dealer and community activist, and Walter Kron, a lawyer.
