About Martin Cooper

Wireless communications entrepreneur and inventor known for his work with Motorola. In the 1970s, he developed (and later marketed) the very first mobile phone.

Early Life of Martin Cooper

After graduating from the Illinois Institute of Technology, he served in the United States Naval Reserves during the Korean War.

A member of Mensa, he won numerous awards, including the IEEE Centennial Medal and the Radio Club of America s Lifetime Achievement Award.

Family Life

He married fellow inventor Arlene Harris. In 1986, the two co-founded a company called Dyna LLC.
