About Abby Lee Miller
Director of Reign Dance Productions and the principal cast member of Lifetime s Dance Moms. She developed a reputation for pushing her students to the edge of their capabilities to prepare them for competitions.

She was exposed to dance during her earliest years, but was not very interested in performing, so she instead went into teaching and opened her own dance studio at age 14.

Close to three million viewers tuned in to see her train a dozen hopeful dancers to compete for $100,000 and a scholarship to the prestigious Joffrey Ballet School.
Her mother, Maryen Lorrain, was a member of Dance Masters of America for five decades, and ran several dance studios, where she first picked up dance. Abby had a white Bichon Frise dog named Broadway Baby who passed away in 2012. In April 2018, Abby was diagnosed with cancer.
